As many solopreneurs will tell you, working at home definitely has its perks. You don’t have to worry about traffic or commuting. There’s no supervisor, or boss that you have to report to and your office is where you want to make it – in most cases your home.
However, it does have its challenges – the lack of interaction with workmates, not being able to disengage from work as regularly, the many distractions and temptations that come from working at home can make it difficult for an entrepreneur to concentrate and maintain a steady level of productivity when working at home.
When I first started working for myself, I was practically non-existent to my family. I would work 70-80 hour weeks and barely have any time to spend with them. After working for myself for 12-years though, I’ve developed a schedule and some best practices that I follow to make sure that I get everything done – and have plenty of time to spend with my family and doing the things I love most.
