When I have self imposed limitations I recall this quote by the Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl.
“Boundaries? I have never seen one but I hear they exist in the minds of most people.”
Positivity in motion, right there!
Cheers, Michael. Thanks for commenting.

hi chris !
I like quotes.
The first one I thought it was from Steve Jobs. Maybe he said something like that.
My favourite quote is : those who want find solutions , those who don’t want find excuses.
Be healthy and smile.
I think that first one has been re-quoted by every major tech player in the last few years – I see it all the time. But, I googled it, and it does seem that I’ve given credit to the right person!
I also like ‘The Way to BE Nothing, is to DO Nothing…’.
I actually have that framed, and on my home office wall.

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been give than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” – Muhammad Ali
The one and only…
“Impossible is nothing”.
Thanks for adding this into the fray, Jeremy!

You can’t beat taking a quote from the one and only Master Yoda and applying it to business!
Jedi Mind Tricks do exist in business.
I’m sure of it.
Really.
I’m SURE of it!!! LOL
Anybody that quotes Yoda can’t be all that bad.
What’s even cooler is that if you jumble up some of the quotes, you can create your own awesomeness.
Cheers Chris!
Dude, it’s YODA!!!!!!!!!!
C’mon. Gotta try that jumbling up thing…

“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” — Henry Ford
How the hell did I leave that one off this list!!!?!
Thanks, Nick!

“Your actions speak so loudly, I can’t hear your words.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Tomorrow is always the best day to start anything.” – No one you’ve ever heard of
LOL. “No one you’ve ever heard of…”
But, nonetheless, a great quote. Thanks for sharing, Tony.

Hi Chris,
Love these quotes, I’m going to print them out and stick them on my wall next to monitor so when I’m feeling beat I can remember all is not lost!
Josh

“Done is better than perfect.”
I don’t know if its inspirational but when Im stuck it helps me to focus on whats important.
Haha. I hear ya.
My basketball coach used to say ‘PERFECT Practice Makes Perfect’… Meaning, if you practice something incorrectly, you’ll never get good at it!

Great list Chris, as always so inspiring. There are so many great quotes been said, many forgotten. True dedication and believing you can make your dreams come true are a main ingredient in the formula for success. Just knowing all of these amazing people in the world are making the journey happen is inspiring as well. Here is a great quote for ya to add: Find the courage to follow your dreams and be who you’re ment to be. — “Fear has nothing to do with cowardice. A fellow is only yellow when he lets his fear make him quit.” — Jerome Cady
Have a great day, make it happen. Blessings
Believing you can make your dream come true…
That kinda sums it up for me, right there. If I didn’t BELIEVE that I could do all the things I’ve done, thus far, in my life, there is no way I would have achieved what I have to this point.
Man, I love that I have so many SUPER SMART people in this community!
Thanks, David.

Man, I’m such a quote guy, how do I pick one? I just finished Steven Pressfield’s ‘Turning Pro’ this week, so here’s a line from the book that I highlighted, that pretty much sums up the book. It’s very simple, but to me, powerful:
‘The difference between the amateur and the professional is in their habits. An amateur has amateur habits. A professional has professional habits.’
Since this money run society has changed the meaning of the word amateur here is the actual difference between the two: ” amateur is someone who pursues the craft of something like music or art because they love doing it. A professional does it for the money. – So do it cause ya love it and the money will come when ya love what you do.
Couldn’t agree more…
Is this a ‘David Ralston’ quote?! Or, from someone else…?!
C
I know, Joseph – believe me, putting this lot together was TOUGH!!!
Gotta get that book now. Thanks, man.

Here are a few I love.

“Be more concerned with your character than your reputation. Your character is what you really are while your reputation is merely what others think you are.”
Dale Carnegie
“Many of life’s failures are men who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” Unknown
“When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two and I know it was not that blow that did it – but all that had gone before.”
Jacob Riis
“One cannot refuse to eat just because there is a chance of being choked.”
Chinese Proverb
“Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt.” (M for M, Act i, Sc.5)

“If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.” Vincent Van Gogh

Love the George Elliot one.
Thanks for sharing so much more inspiration, Brian.

Great list Chris!
And really, what inspirational list would be complete without Yoda.
Gotta love a little bit of Yoda!
I mean, he IS a Jedi Master, after all…
Very inspirational, I just love a good quote keeps me motivated good read Chris.
Awesome list Chris! I must say… i really like your site’s design. Clean and beautiful.
One of my new favourite quotes. “Think big and don’t listen to people who tell you it can’t be done. Life’s too short to think small”. – Tim Ferriss.
Nice, Leno.
I was wondering when someone would quote Tim!
THINK BIG – thats the money, right there…
C
Great list Chris!
One of my favorites:
“Dream big by setting yourself seemingly impossible challenges. You then have to catch up with them.” Sir Richard Branson
/Anna
Hi Anna!
Generally speaking, it’s hard to go wrong with anything that Richard Branson says…
Well, there was that “Virgin Cola in the USA” thing…!
Thanks for contributing.

May i add
“Be hungry, want it more and work your ass off.” @garyvee
“I think if you do something and it turns out pretty good, then you should go do something else wonderful, not dwell on it for too long. Just figure out what’s next.” – steve jobs
do they add or detract from your list.. delete as appropriate
regards
Nothing detract’s from a list like this, Steve.
Appreciate you injecting some more wisdom, my man.

“If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.” I love this. I’ll keep this in mind always.
I heard this one from Tim Ferriss recently: “This world is filled with so many people just trying to hit singles, that sometimes it’s easier to go for the homerun.”
Love those quotes!
I definitely rely on the quick bursts of energy and insight such quotes give. I think a lot of people need to take the door quote to heart. Opportunity does not always present itself, you oftentimes have to bring it about or at least put yourself in position to take advantage of it.
“Do not wait to strike until the iron is hot, make it hot by striking.”
Thanks for the entreshots!
Austin Hodge
Appreciate the comment, Austin.
